Zoo Lights

We went to the zoo lights with some friends, and a fun time was had by all... Even if we did stand in line for the zoo train for 45 minutes. :)

Oregon Zoo Winter

Another fun trip to the zoo, there were a surprising amount of animals out even in the cold weather including Palus (the baby cougar) and the tigers, which we hardly ever see. I've added a couple of videos to the YouTube channel one of Palus playing, and one of the wolf pack howling.

Oregon Zoo - New Cougar Cub

They finally put the new cougar cub on display so we  went back to the zoo this weekend specifically to see her, and we stopped by a couple of our other favorite exhibits as well. It was raining, and we got really close to the lions, an orangutan, and an eagle. It was something!

Coast Storm

I surprised her with a trip to the coast during the first big storm of the season. In addition to it being the first big storm it was an extra high tide as well, so there was a lot of wind and wave action. It was pretty awesome. :)

Beach Run

Did a quick day trip to the beach, hit up the mouth of the Columbia river, and Seaside.

Portland Japanese Garden

Barview Jetty Park Camping

Needing some time away from home we headed over the mountain to Tilamook, and then up to Barview. Where we, in advance of the storm coming in, had a nice walk on the beach, and then set up camp for the night.

Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum

We visited the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum during their annual fly in. The place is huge, and fill of antiques. Quite incredible, you can spend hours there and still walk away feeling like you didn't see everything.

Coast Trip and Newport, Oregon

We took a trip to the the coast, and stopped to take some pictures of Haceta Head Lighthouse, then we drove north to a favorite little park, Muriel Ponsler Wayside. We then proceeded up the coast to Cooks Chasm, Smelt Sands State Park, and Then we hit Newport, and stopped at Butterfly Adventures, which was amazing. Once we were done there, we went across the street to check out the sea lions.

Champoeg State Park

Our first visit to Champoeg State Park. We looked around, visited the museum, saw reenactors, played disc golf, and had a picnic. all in all it was a great trip.

Tilamook Forest Center and Cape Lookout Picnic

We had driven past the Tillamook Forest Center several times, mostly when it was closed. This time we decided to stop. It was pretty interesting, with plenty of things to see. Once we were done exploring there, we picked up a picnic lunch and headed to Cape Lookout. Then a nice drive home, stopping at a waterfall.

Wildwood Recreation Site and Central Oregon Drive

We headed east to Mt. Hood and visited the Wildwood Recreation Site. Then we headed further up the mountain, and decided to keep going. We ended up driving out 26 to Redmond and coming back via Sisters through Salem and up I5.

Mt. Hood Scenic Loop

We drove out I-84 to Hood River, then down Hwy 35 to Hwy 26, then drove up to Timberline lodge, and back down Hwy 26 to home.

Ft. Stevens to Tillamook

We Drove up to Fort Stevens to check out the area that we seem to keep missing, and then cruised down to Tillamook for dinner before driving home.

North Jetty, Florence, OR ... again

Went down to visit family again, this time with the new camera. took some pictures I most likely  wouldn't have been able to snag with the old one too.

Oregon Zoo

Today we went to the zoo and had a great time checking out all the animals.

Tillamook Area Day Trip

We took a day trip to the Tillamook area. We visited the cheese factory (of course!) and then drove out to Cape Meares, we hadn't been down to the lighthouse since the vandalism, so I took some shots of that, then we saw a whale, and I managed to get a shot off before it went back underwater. From there we went down to Oceanside, and up to Barview Jetty park, where we hunted shells. Then we we hit the south end of Seaside to see if there were any surfers, there were, but they were just heading out so we didn't stick around.

North Jetty - Florence, Oregon

We went to Florence to visit family, The camera was acting up, so we didn't get many good pictures.

Coast Trip

Took a drive to the coast, and went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory as we usually do. Also drove out to Cape Meares, but it was still closed. Remembered the camera this time, but there was nothing noteworthy enough to take a picture of.
